| Tiivistelmä: | Advances in information and manufacturing technology have resulted in flexible automation system implementations. Advanced flexible automation systems have the capabilities necessary to implement flexible process plans. The implementation of flexible process plans does not require either a flexible automation system or a computer in theory but practical considerations. This paper explores the potential of flexible process plans. Sequence flexibility, which allows multiple prodecessor/successor operations, is defined and its benefits are quantified via a set of simulation experiments. |
