| Tiivistelmä: | Article adresses the problem how to cut lead time and increase customer satisfaction through effective product design and development.Many new design technologies have been developed recently, and among them the article describes characteristics of simultaneous engineering.A critical element for the introduction of the simultaneous engineering is the pattern of communication between the upstream and the downstream group in the development process.According to this pattern of communication four different models are presented.Due to the problems found the article also briefs two methods used for improving product design and development: quality function deployment, design for manufacture and assembly. |
