Tiivistelmä: | Most of the literature on corporate governance has involved static analysis. Theory has focused on explaining the relation between the activities of a firm and its governance structure while most empirical work has been restricted to cross-sectional data bases. Industry deregulation provides a natural experiment filling the gap in the literature. It represents a shock that calls for more nimble governance structures than the systems that are well suited for firms with active regulatory oversight. Observing whether there is a natural selection of organizational form, and how firms adapt to the shock, may enrich understanding of evolutionary processes in organizational economics. |
