Tiivistelmä:This paper considers b2c e-trade. The author considers the examples of a number of e-companies and analyses the reasons allowing them to survive. For example, profitable business-to-customer companies disprove the fact that - ease of market entry notwithstanding - companies have to be built at Internet speed. Investors realize that time requires money. Other b2c start-ups got funding from their "big brothers". These start-ups hold onto their cash and their sanity. In 1992 e-tailers poured most of its efforts and funds into branding and steadily growing its customers base. Another common thread among these b2c survivors is that they are extremely adaptive to shifting market conditions. B2C survivors either possess or aim to hit gross margins in excess of 60%.
