| Tiivistelmä: | Based on a plant level data set for the manufacturing sector in the Republic of Ireland, this stydy investigates the relationship btw. government support for R&D and privately financed R&D expenditures. It is found that for domestic plants small grants serve to increase private (here as: prv.) R&D spending, while too large a grant may displace prv. financing of R&D. In contrast, evidence for foreign establishments suggests that grant provision causes neither additionality nor crowding out effects of prv. R&D financing. |
