Tiivistelmä:This paper proposes and tests a model to explain individual differences in the propensity to engage (hereafter as: p-to-e.) in socially responsible behaviour (SRB). By linking values, affect and reasoning (here as: val-aff-reas.) to managers' propensity to 'do good' and 'do no harm', a more complete picture of how SRB arises in organizations is provided. A survey of 643 middle managers in five multinational corporations supports the contention that val-aff-reas. matter for SRB. Especially, self transcendence values and positive affect increase the p-to-e. in SRB etc. In addition, it is found that values and affect shape more controlled processes such as moral reasoning etc.
