Tiivistelmä: | The roots of Britain's training problem, drawing links with industrial decline and lack of competitiveness, are examined. It is argued that training has considerable strategic importance in this context but major attitudinal and structural obstacles are restricting the ability of British management to implement the necessary changes in their human resource management. A five-level change strategy for Britain to regain competitiveness is proposed: develop human resource planning systems that are truly integrated with business strategy, develop radically new employment models, learn to manage cultural transformations, adapt training and development programs, and develop new structures and capabilities for human resource specialists. |
