| Tiivistelmä: | There are many instances in manufacturing where jobs simultaneously require more than one resource. A version of the problem is formulated and a reformulation described. A Lagrangian relaxation is proposed. The relaxation provides a lower bound to the problem, and also suggests a heuristic approach. Next, a surrogate relaxation is developed that converts the problem to one single machine problem. The relaxation provides a second lower bound and heuristic solution. Finally, the effectiveness of the lower bounds and the heuristics are tested computationally on a set of problems. The optimal solution for smaller problems is obtained via a simple enumeration. |
