| Tiivistelmä: | The cultural gap between industry and the national laboratories should be bridged. It is critically important that scientists at the national laboratories work closely with their industry counterparts. It is also important that scientists from national laboratories work full time at industrial laboratories so that they gain a better understanding of industrial problems while, at the same time, bringing to industry knowledge and experience from the national laboratories. If technology transfer is to be more effective, industry should have the freedom to select national laboratories, universities, or commercial firms based upon their expertise in solving problems and not on restrictive procurement practices. |
