| Tiivistelmä: | The outcome of wage and employment negotiations between a firm and a union is affected by many factors. There is an incentive for the firm to build up its inventories, but for this purpose, the firm has to employ more labour from the union. To examine some of these issues, a simple model was constructed whose essential purpose is twofold: to determine the circumstances under which inventories will be held even when demand and production conditions are constant, and to see who gains and loses from such an inventory accumulation. A simple two-period framework is set up that allows inventories to be carried over from one period to the next. Then the model is constructed with wage and employment bargaining in each period. |
