| Tiivistelmä: | The former Soviet planning system as enforced in Eastern Europe was based essentially on building an autarkic economy in an atmosphere of isolation. On balance the task of transferring state property to the private sector appears to have been relatively successful. The last four years, however , have proved more difficult than was initially imagined. An area as complex and diversified as Eastern Europe poses problems for future analyses outlined in the article. |
