| Tiivistelmä: | The impact of political uncertainty on financial crises is examined by using a panel of 22 emerging markets. Political election cycles are examined, and it is found that eight out of nine of the financial crises occurred during the periods of political elections and transition. A combination of probit and switching regression analysis is used and it is found that there is a significant relationship between political election and financial crisis after controlling for differences in economic and financial conditions. |
