| Tiivistelmä: | The way is described in which, in the use of information technology in business contexts, emphasis is shifting from large centralized computers to the decentralized application of smaller units and systems. In order to make the right decisions when investing in decentralized information technology, it is essential for management to be familiar with the functions and capacity of the products on the market in this field and to be well informed as to the type of tasks in which information technology can be of assistance. Even where these aspects are considered, there are various other conditions upon which long-term efficient application of decentralized information technology depends. |
