| Tiivistelmä: | Mentoring provides career guidance and psychological support to employees. However, women may have difficulty in establishing a mentoring relationship (mentorship). The individual and organizational factor are described that may inhibit development of mentorship for women. Barriers are: lack of access to information networks, tokenism, stereotyping, socialization practices, norms regarding cross-gender relationships, reliance on inappropriate power bases. An agenda for research on the development of mentoring relationships is proposed. |
