| Tiivistelmä: | Computer-based expert system are increasingly used in management practice. However, these applications are insular in nature, designed for special problems. Two examples developed for Henkel are given. The structure of expert systems - knowledge base, inference engine, knowledge acquisitions - lends itself to draw a parallel to a company as a whole: it could be described as an expert system though not (yet) computer-based. For the theory of management such an approach leads to new challenges in structuring, for managers it is an incentive to look at the feasibility of introducing more expert systems in their own companies. |
