| Tiivistelmä: | The effect of real exchange-rate changes on output is analysed using annual data for a group of 23 countries over the period 1978-87, based on a rational expectations macromodel with imported intermediate goods. Anticipated depreciation of the real exchange rate has a negative and lasting effect on economic activity while an unanticipated depreciation has a positive impact on output. |
