| Tiivistelmä: | The relationship of career mentoring to the promotions and compensation received by more than 400 early career managers and professionals working in different organizations was examined. The findings indicate that there are relationships between career mentoring and career progress and that these relationships vary according to the socioeconomic origins of young managers and professionals: mentoring has a greater relationship with promotion rate for people from the highest-level socioeconomic backgrounds. Explanations for the effects of career mentoring on early career progress are provided. |
