Tiivistelmä:Party autonomy is the freedom of individuals to chose the rules which shall govern their contractual relationships. Party autonomy in material private law is a well-established legal concept in all Member States of the European Community and is protected by their Constitutions. The correlate to party autonomy in material law can be found in the field of private international law in the generally-accepted rule that it is for the parties to chose the law of a country which shall govern their contractual relationships.
