| Tiivistelmä: | The European Works Councils (EWCs) Directives has now been in force for some eight months. In this feature, the authors review the progress in transporting it into the national legislation of the 17 countries affected , and look at developments in practice in multinational companies. Since the EWcs Directive came into force on 22 September 1996, (EIRR 273 p.11), progress on national implementation has been steady, if relatively slow, while negotiating activity in the multinational companies which failed to sign an "Article 13" agreement before the September deadline seems to be picking up after an initial lull of some months. |
