| Tiivistelmä: | Existing executive compensation schemes are criticized. The historic background of the topic is outlined. Recent developments are examined. Opinions of different scientific schools are compared. A new compensation scheme, the shareholder-executive linkage formula is proposed. Executives' financial rewards are connected to shareholder value. Compensation in excess of the cash limit may be paid only in the publicly traded stock of the company. It must be held by the executive for a minimum of five years. Examples are presented to illustrate how might a typical well-paid corporate executive expect to fare under the scheme. Advantages are summarized. |
