| Tiivistelmä: | The personal characteristics, family backgrounds and company loyalty of chief executive officers are examined. Attention is called to the fact that one in four chief executives works more than 65 hours weekly. The typical chief executive is presented as male in his fifties, coming from a middle-class background, having large holdings in the company's stock, and working for the firm for 20 years. That many successful big-company chief executives do not fit this mold, is pointed out. The diversity among them is viewed as evidence of the diversity of talents required by business. |
