Tiivistelmä: | In response to corporate America's desire to wield technology more effectively, a new executive position has been named and, in a few cases, assigned to information systems managers. The philosophical foundation for the chief executive officier (CEO) title - unifying and guiding the entire corporation's information technology does not correspond to the realities of the job. A Coopers and Lybrand/DATAMATION survey has shown that, even for those IS executive who hold the title, the CEO job carries little of the authority necessary to develop and nurture long-term IS strategies. The relentless pressure to perform in the short-term is blamed. Eastman Kodak Co.'s CIO is presented for a good example. |
