Tiivistelmä:Corporate giving which reached USD 5 billion in 2989, has grown at a gradual rate over the past five years. Corporate philanthropy is only a minor piece of overall American giving, 4.4 percent in 1989. The strategic giving philosophy is gaining favour at many major companies, since grantmaking is crucial to the company's interest. Corporate gifts go to health and human services, to education, to civic and community, to culture and art and, 9.6 percent, to other purposes. A table showing annual corporate giving from 1985 through 1989 is presented. Some CEOs' views on corporate giving are cited. The gain from giving is considered generally long-term benefits and short-term publicity.
