| Tiivistelmä: | The authors of the paper state that as healthcare organizations learn to function in a competitive environment, their first objective seems to be focused on managing cost. The paper also states that borrowing from sectors more experienced in competitive cost management, healthcare organizations can adapt and design existing decision support systems (DSSs) and integrate activity-based cost (ABC) management systems to support executive management decision making. The authors express an opinion that healthcare organizations must not borrow standard design assumptions used by other industries, however, when integrating ABC management systems into DSS design. |
