| Tiivistelmä: | This report is a condensed version of a study conducted by the DIW on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics on the occasion of the Import Fair, Berlin, 1994. Following seven years of negotiations, the Uruguay Round of the Gatt was finally brought to a conclusion in December 1993. A significant result of the multi-faceted negotiations is seen to be the improvrmrnt in market access for industrial goods from developing countries. It is argued that developing countries, in particular, will benefit from the further reduction in customs duties and the integration of trade in textiles and clothing in the new GATT system over the next ten years. |
