| Tiivistelmä: | Trade liberalization is puzzling from the point of view of standard political economy models. The question is presented: Why would a government find it optimal to remove protection that it previously found optimal to impose ? The paper reviews two types of approaches to answering this question, that is, approaches that view liberalization driven by strenghtened anti-protection forces, and approaches viewing liberalization as driven by an erosion of pro-protection forces. |
