| Tiivistelmä: | Up to now remittances of migrant workers have not been analysed in their own right, only their consequences for capital flows of the sending country. In this paper a model of remittance determination is presented. Its supply side relies on income, cost of labour and savings behaviour of the migrant worker, the demand side` on income position of their families at home relative to neighbours. The model is estimated for the 1960-84 period on the sample of one million Greek Gastarbeiters. |
