Tiivistelmä:Increased internationalization in the economic, political and social arenas has lead to greater interpersonal cross-cultural contact. Because much of this contact has not been successful, cross-cultural training has been proposed by many scholars as a means of facilitating more effective interaction. However, most firms in the USA continue to employ a "sink-or-swim" practice for expatriate employees. A new cross-cultural training framework is proposed which is based on both theory and a review of the literature. The contingency framework is based on Social Learning Theory for determining the type of training intervention most appropriate for various cross-cultural situations.
