Tiivistelmä:Being global (hereafter as: glb.) and distributed (as: dstrd.) is a reality. An organization (here as: org./orgs.) must be able to manage knowledge (as: kn.) in a dstrd. context to be able to carry out optimal actions to meet the glb. challenges. An org. must also be aware that its customers reside in multiple glb. locations. Modern orgs. also employ a virtual, globally dstrd. and dynamic workforce. The dominant knowledge management (KM) issue facing glb. orgs. is fostering a cultural shift, because org. members are used to working within their local confines. To be successful, orgs. need to make the shift from local to global. Individuals should also be trained on the need to follow formal procedures for kn. sharing and kn. storage. Another major concern for glb. orgs. is that of enablement technology. Cultural differences impact on the way of KM in diverse countries.
