Tiivistelmä:Older workers comprise a vital, productive, and often underutilized source of labour. Yet, little is known about the older leader in the work place. Does age affect leadership effectiveness? Results of a study involving employee from seventeen organizations suggest that age-related differences in leadership effectiveness are minimal. Justification for work place policies eliminating age bias is discussed. Implications for leadership training and development for older managers in a team-structured environment are also explored. There is some evidence to suggest younger supervisors engage in more relationship-oriented activities than older supervisors, who may have less need for the relationships.
