| Tiivistelmä: | Beside the normal problems faced by the Russian enterprises companies in the Ural region have additional difficulties: the dramatic cut in the military budget is felt painfuly in the 5 million inhabitants of the region, where nearly every plant produced for the army. The transforming of military plants into civilian enterprises is a slow and difficult process, which is made even harder by the lack of clear regulations. However, the future of the region is not unpromising, since the quality of the labour force and the equipment are better in these formerly privileged plants than anywhere in the ex Soviet Union. |
