| Tiivistelmä: | Following the dissolution of the CMEA, and then the disintegration of the Soviet Union itself in 1991, Russia's foreign trade was thrown into disarray. Both the direction and the commodity structure of Russian foreign trade have evolved since 1990, but the underlying tendencies are quite hard to discern because Russia has also been implementing market-oriented reforms -- notably price and trade liberalisation, the privatisation of most former state-owned firms, and erratic but increasingly solid progress towards the achievement of macroeconomic stabilisation. |
