| Tiivistelmä: | The end of 1997 brought hightened interest in the building of new gas pipelines in Northern Europe and Russia. The Directorate of Energy of the EU is currently preparing the following project -- the delivery to Europe of natural gas from Russian deposits, located at the Yamal peninsula. The said project was discussed at meetings between Russian President Boris Yeltsin and the President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, and also during the visit of Boris Yeltsin to Sweden. |
