| Tiivistelmä: | The progress has been achieved in political relations between Russia and China since the dissolution of the Soviet Union has surprised external observers and perhaps also the governments of the two states themselves. Whilst the initial development of relations between the two countries following the end of the Soviet Union suggested that the process of normalisation begun under Gorbachev would continue, there was little ground for a belief in a close relationship between Beijing and Moscow. |
