| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines women's role and effectiveness as labour market intermediaries using qualitative and quantitative data gathered in the city of Samara, Russia in 1999. The results show that even though women are more active than men as intermediaries the jobs gained through women are less attractive. It is argued that women's secondary position in the labour market and their adopted role within households as domestic managers prevents them from accessing information about better jobs. |
