Tiivistelmä: | Active coaching of staff by their line managers is still not common, despite all the exhortations of trainers, HR departments, and a growing number of senior executives. In many, perhaps most , organisations coaching is at best patchy, at worst hardly evident at all. Many managers pay only lip service to it , while others openly resist it. Often the only managers who actively undertake staff coaching are newly appointed managers and "plateaued managers". This view is perhaps unduly harsh but the trend toward leaner, performance-driven organisations does seem to make it increasingly difficult for managers to coach and may actually discourage them from doing it. |
