| Tiivistelmä: | The work of Mintzberg is used as a basis for comparison with other observation studies on managerial work. Comparisons are made with other prior structured observation work to derive conclusions regarding the nature of managerial work. The relationships between managerial behaviour, effectiveness, and environmental and demographic variables are examined. Significant differences were found in managerial behaviour related to environmental and demographic variables but not to performance. Other studies support earlier conclusions regarding the brief, varied, fragmented and interpersonal nature of managerial work. Moreover, there is an important relationship between the environment and managerial behaviour. |
