Tiivistelmä: | Business ethics is an area growing in importance for business managers. Research in the USA suggests that three-quarters of major corporations have specific codes of ethics, and in the United Kingdom some 40 p.c. (and increasing) of major organizations have codes of ethics. A survey on corporate ethics undertaken in the UK is explained. Some reasons why firms choose to have codes of ethics, and why some firms do not are outlined. Further research is suggested, especially on the perceived benefits of a corporate code of ethics to organizations. Two criteria of corporate ethical excellence are stressed: 1. an ethical excellence culture; 2. the integrity and autonomy of the individual within the corporate culture. |
