| Tiivistelmä: | The communist system can be described as an exchange process between two partners the communist leaders and the people. It is shown how trust-based exchanges between them could overcome the communist collective action problem. When the communist leaders have lost the trust of individuals, they are confronted with property rights-based exchanges which lead to extensive 'free riding'. |
