| Tiivistelmä: | The proved reserves of iron ore in China are about 49 billion tons, ranking fifth in the world. But for many years, China's iron ore industry always could not meet the needs of steel and iron industry. It is estimated that by the year 2000, the self-supporting rate of domestic- produced iron ore will fall from the present 75% to 58% or so. According to calculation by an annual growth rate of 6% and with the present output as the basic figure, the output of domestic-produced iron ore will reach 0.3 billion tons or so, with a gap of over 0.6 billion tons by the year 2000. So we should both be based on the development of domestic resources and increase the use of foreign iron ore resources to develop China's steel and iron industry. |
