| Tiivistelmä: | Managers may spend as much as 60 p.c. of their time in meetings, yet most of them feel half that time is wasted. The common response is to tighten meeting agendas, but that tactic does not address the real issue. The process of meetings must be managed as well as the content. Factors that impact employee participation during staff meetings are described and analyzed. The configuration of the meeting room is shown to be important. The manager must be sensitive to opportunities for engaging the ideas and suggestions of others. Some encouragement must be given to shy staff members. Recommendations are offered about handling the other end of the spectrum, the domineering members. |
