Sampling problems caused by telephone are described. The history of phone polls is outlined. Geographical and educational differences are analyzed. The extent and the nature of the coverage bias in phone polls in Britain is discussed. Polls are analyzed on the basis of telephone ownership. Statistical data are presented about telephone bias in voting compared with other issues. Ways to reduce compositional problems are outlined. Weighting schemes are described. |
