| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper the authors analyze the problem of determining the size of the stokc of large format dimensions, such as the number of rotary cut format orders that are covered is maximized and the trim loss is minimized. Until now the composition of the large format stock was determined by using the experience of the planners who prioritize the maximization of the trim loss at the cost of minimizing stock costs. In this paper a more balanced treatment of the problem is provided. It is shown that the problem can be formulated as a minimum clique covering problem with alternatives which is presumed to be NP-hard. Based on a set of real data, the actual composition of semi-finished inventories is determined. |
