| Tiivistelmä: | The /S-1, S/ inventory system with Poisson demand and two modes of supply /normal and emergency/ is considered. An approximate model of a control system for such inventory is developed. It is assumed that demand and the fixed ordering costs are not considerable in comparison to the holding cost so that a one-for-one ordering policy is appropriate. A policy is investigated for placing emergency orders that uses information about the age of outstanding orders. The steady-state behaviour of this policy is derived and some computational results are presented. |
