Tiivistelmä:Manufacturing managers are still confused about and even suspicious of Just-in-Time /JIT/ inventory control systems. Part of the reason is that its popularizers have delivered JIT's message of pragmatic manufacturing reform with too much revolutionary zeal. In praising JIT's ideal of simplicity, some have implied that JIT is simple to implement. The most revolutionary idea is that inventory reduction is a means to reforming the factory rather than a result. In fact, cutting inventories before the factory is ready to run without inventory buffers is very dangerous. It is important to recognize that JIT may be appropriate to some market strategies and not to others. JIT requires major effort to succeed.
