| Tiivistelmä: | The Finnish company has big plans for its miracle margarine. When tiny Finnish foodmaker Raisio released a cholesterol-reducing margarine called Benecol last year, the company couldn't keep up with demand - even though the product cost seven times ordinary margarine. At Helsinki's Stockmann Department Store, workers even posted apologetic signs: "Sorry, we are out of Benecol." Why all the excitement? Benecol contains a patented ingredient known as stanol ester that blocks the body'd absorption of cholesterol. |
