| Tiivistelmä: | This article aims to analyze cyclicality in sawmills (henceforth as: s-ml./s-mls.) in Finland and Sweden during 1970-2000. There are two research questions: Firstly, what kind of business cycles (in terms of key economic indicators) has the s-ml. industry (here as: ind-y.) experienced during the mentioned period? This question is answered by providing historical data on some market-related economic indicators. Secondly, what kind of processes and structures have typically caused, enhanced and upheld cyclicality in the Nordic s-ml. ind-y.? This question is answered primarily based on interviews with key managers of several Swedish and Finnish companies in the s-ml. industry. |
