Tiivistelmä:The economic consequences of disclosure regulations on the costs imposed on firm by competitors' actions are studied. Two basic models with incomplete information are analyzed, one of existing competition in a duopoly and the second of a potential entrant into a monopolist's market. Current research using similar settings is reviewed. Surprising results are found. The analysis indicates that competition may be far less influential on disclosure rules than what might be expected, and reveals some counter-influental effects of competition on disclosure.
