Tiivistelmä:The loss of employee voice (henceforth as: e-v.) is one of the essential ethical issues in the employment relationships. E-v. has been rendered less effective through: 1. the changing nature of work, 2. employer preferences for flexibility, often to the employees' disadvantage, and 3. changes in public policy and institutional systems failing to protect workers. It is discussed how work has changed during the last 20 years in countries like Australia and the United States (U.S.). It is taken up the issue of employees as organizational stakeholders and their ethical duties, with special attention to issues of power. It is considered whether voluntary action by employers, e.g. social auditing be sufficient to ensure equity for employees. To conclude, there is a discussion of how changes in public policy might ensure greater fairness in the employment relationships through partnerships of employers and employees.
