| Tiivistelmä: | Social scientists regularly give accounts of the decline of work-related values. Some of them say that there is a false alarm. Their arguments are based on the permanency of the astonishing achievement of economy. However, some changes in the value system are described and analyzed in the records of these scientists. An international study on the meaning of work is reported. Its main results are summarized. A heuristic model of the subjective meaning of work is presented. Some implications for work organization and working conditions are considered. |
